Georges Lochak was born in Paris (France) in 1930. 

Studies of Physics and Mathematics at Sorbonne and Institute Henri Poincaré (Paris) from 1950 to 1954. 

In 1954, he became researcher at the C.N.R.S. (National Center of Scientific Research). When he retired in 1996, he was Senior Researcher (Directeur de Recherche). He was, from the beginning of his career, a pupil, and then a close collaborator of Louis de Broglie. 

He worked successively in the Institute Henri Poincaré, in the Institute for Nuclear Physics (Dubna, Russia) and inthe Joliot-Curie-Laboratory for Nuclear Physics (Orsay, France). He was among the few members of the private seminar created by Louis de Broglie, at the Academy of Sciences after he retired. In 1973, he became the Director of the newly created Foundation Louis de Broglie, until 1981, when he was elected President, after Louis Neél and René Thom. 

Principal fields of research : Relativistic quantum mechanics, Magnetic monopole, Problems of chirality and symmetry in Q.M., Theory of particle accelerators, Interactions between matter and intense electromagnetic fields, Adiabatic Invariants in Quantum Mechanics in The presence of an External Electromagnetic field, Quantum statistics in the presence of such interactions, Theory of measurement in quantum mechanics etc. 

Author of 121 papers in scientific journals and of 48 general scientific papers; author or co-author of 8 books, editor of 12 scientific books among which the edition with a critical apparatus of previously unpublished books of Louis de Broglie and the publication in russian of selected papers of Louis de Broglie.
