a short video showing how i setup my scenes in 3ds max prior to modeling.
this video shows the start of the hull. the line drawings are inaccurate so there's some errors in it that i'll fix later.
showing the start of the turret.
tweaking the turret of the AMX-13, getting the whole thing into a single shape.
lots of reference being used at this point.
adding details.
yeah, more modeling of the turret. discovered some errors i had done on the cupola, and fixed those, and more tweaking of the front cloth attachment plates
adding gunners sight, periscopes, handrails, and those funny things on the front of the turret.
using the animation tools to make sure the turret doesn't clip with parts of the hull and.... turret.. damn the AMX-13 and its weird design..
modeling the drive sprocket and smoke grenades
modeling the headlights, headlight protective rails and the bowplate mudguard, designed to prevent mud from splashing onto the drivers periscopes.
tweaking the headlight guards on the AmX-13 and UVmapping it first, because uvmapping it later is a lot slower.
making the exhaust from a box, and using the line tool with "enable in viewport" enabled, to create the exhaust
creating the single-baffle muzzle brake of the 75mm gun.
adding the hatch stop on the TCs cupola, and adding the hinges for the ammunition reload doors. perhaps its better if i make those doors open.. hmm.
UVmapping the upper portion of the turret.
adding the rails on the bustle, towing hooks on rear hull, and the "cup thingie" on the left turret side
adding the pick and shovel stowed on the left of the turret.
yes, just guncloth.
i discovered the line drawing was wrong on a number of places, so using reference images, i tweaked the rear hull to a more accurate shape.
also adding idler attachments on the rear hull, and the gunners hatch.
some hull detailing, and lots of UVmapping
