Снова о мемо

yakov_a_jerkov — 06.02.2018 Я хотел назвать эту запись "Fucking liars - 2" или как-то так, но потом решил, что мой ЖЖ всегда был журналом высокой культуры быта, и дал записи менее громкое название. Но суть та, конечно.

Практически сразу же после публикации memo, сразу три ведущие американские газеты, NYT, WP и WSJ, сообщили, что, по информации их источников, центральное утверждение мемо -- в FISA application на прослушку Пейджа использовалась информация из досье Стила без указание на то, что это досье было подготовлено по заказу демократов -- вранье. Я писал об этом в субботу, процитирую еще раз из WSJ:

The memo is critical of Mr. Steele and notes that prosecutors in their application for the warrant didn't explicitly state that he was working for a firm funded by Democrats.

But the FISA application did disclose Mr. Steele was being paid by a law firm working for a major political party, according to a person familiar with the matter. Redacting the names of U.S. people or organizations who aren't the subject of an investigation is a common practice in government legal filings, designed to protect privacy.

Republicans concede key FBI 'footnote' in Carter Page warrant:

Devin Nunes said Monday the FBI had disclosed political backing for a Trump-Russia dossier in October 2016, but a controversial GOP memo released last week did not mention it.

Нунес это признал вот таким образом:

"A footnote saying something may be political is a far cry from letting the American people know that the Democrats and the Hillary campaign paid for dirt that the FBI then used to get a warrant on an American citizen to spy on another campaign," Nunes said on "Fox & Friends."

Далее. Единственным из республиканцев в комитете Нунеса, кто читал саму FISA application, был Трей Гауди. Вот что он написал в своем Твиттере сразу после публикации мемо:

It is important for the American public to know if the dossier was paid for by another candidate, used in court pleadings, vetted before it was used, vetted after it was used, and whether all relevant facts were shared with the tribunal approving of the FISA application.

While this memo raises serious concerns with the FISA process, I have been and remain confident in the overwhelming majority of the men and women serving at the FBI and DOJ.

As I have said repeatedly, I also remain 100 percent confident in Special Counsel Robert Mueller. The contents of this memo do not - in any way - discredit his investigation.

Заметьте, что Гауди вообще не утверждает, что имели место хоть какие-то нарушения.

Тот же Гауди в воскресенье -- Gowdy: Memo has no impact on Russia probe:

"I actually don't think it has any impact on the Russia probe for this reason."
CBS's Margaret Brennan pressed Gowdy on whether he believes the memo has "no impact on the Russia probe."

"Not to me, it doesn't — and I was pretty integrally involved in the drafting of it," Gowdy, who recently announced he will not seek reelection, said.

"There is a Russia investigation without a dossier. So to the extent the memo deals with the dossier and the [Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act] process, the dossier has nothing to do with the meeting at Trump Tower. The dossier has nothing to do with an email sent by Cambridge Analytica."

He added that the dossier has "nothing to do with George Papadopoulos's meeting in Great Britain."

"It also doesn't have anything to do with obstruction of justice. So there's going to be a Russia probe, even without a dossier," he said.

Но, конечно, Гауди уже объявил, что не будет пытаться переизбраться, так что...

Nunes just said to @seanhannity that the FBI “used political dirt” to “open a counterintelligence investigation” on the Trump campaign. But his own memo says that’s not true — that the investigation was opened because of Papadopoulos talking to an Australian official.

Его собственное мемо утверждает, что counterintelligence investigation началась из-за Пападопулоса, но Нунес рассказывает зрителям Fox News, что все дело в досье! Ну, вот оцените наглость.

Зря, наверное, я и эту запись "Fucking liars" не назвал.
