Насколько шедеврален "Матренин двор"?

Она сдавала не только экзамен по русскому, но и, очевидно, об истории нашего государства.
Я так понял, что про "Матренин двор" и "Один день Ивана Денисовича" в Москве уверены - это такие шедевры мировой литературы. Спорить не буду, но хочется задать вопрос - настолько ли они шедевральны, чтобы предложить их для чтения изучающим сейчас русский язык? Поможет ли это решить проблемы, о которых здесь говорится?
А вот в изучении английского по отрывкам из Фолкнера я ничего плохого кроме хорошего не вижу. Вот хотя бы этот пример великолепного фолкнеровского английского. В "Святилище" языковых вкусняшек хватает :)
